Summary of the event
In June 2026, the 10 PhD students of GlyCanDrug attended the fourth networking-wide event. This is an important pit-stop to check the status of their research and training activities! Indeed, most of the DCs are approaching the last year of their PhD.
The program is full of scientific and soft-skills training opportunities! PhD students presented his/her results to the DCPC for evaluation of the advancements they did so far. Each talk was followed by an opened discussion with all the supervisors and members of the consortium. Accordingly, the topic of this discussion was included in each DCPC report to help them to address all the points arised during the meeting.
Are you able to communicate your research activity to child? Let’s try! At the end of their presentation each DC had to discuss with an 11-year-old girl about the aim of their research.
The scientific workshop was focused on topics related to DELOpen methodology for drugs identification, fragment-based and high-throughput screening for early drug discovery, structure-based drug design, homology modelling, virtual screening methodologies, and NMR for structural biology studies. The soft-skills program was intense too. PhD students had the opportunity to attend a course on Life Sciences Intellectual Property Workshop and on Gender Balance and Ethics in Science!
For the first time a networking event has been organized. The aim of the event was to build a bridge between the final phase of the PhD and entry into the job market, offering young researchers (DCs) both a political compass to guide them through European funding and direct contacts with leaders in industrial and academic research. The first session focuses on post-PhD funding and career opportunities in the European context, with the participation of the EU Project Officer! Then, during the second session it was the time of networking with the private sector (Head of Research Department) and academic excellence. The students had the opportunity to have an intense discussion with relevant stakeholders (see the programme!).
