Summary of the event

The meeting in Zaragoza was the first networking-wide event of the GlyCanDrug consortium. It was a great opportunity for the PhD students and their supervisors to meet in-person and to discuss about the scientific and training plan. PhD students have been introduced in the field of glycoscience thanks to the didactic lecture delivered by Dr. Celso Reis from i3S (beneficiary partner). Moreover, PhD students had the opportunity to attend the first two soft-skill courses and to be trained in different topics: (i) Open Science and research publishing practices; (ii) Developing language and digital skills; (iii) Science communication and public engagement, including interpersonal and intercultural communication skills in Internet and social media, and presentation skills. All the soft-skill courses were recorded to give the possibility to the PhD students not yet enrolled in the program to have access to the courses when needed. The PhD students had the first meeting with their Doctoral Candidate Project Committee (DCPC). The DCPC will help and support each PhD student during their PhDs providing suggestions and support for the implementation of their work and future career. The Supervisory Board (SB), just established, followed the whole process and advancements thanks to the support of all the GlyCanDrug committees!
